Hoa earned his Master of Science of Business Administration (M.S.B.A), Business Analytics (2016) and Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A), Marketing (2014) from California State University-East Bay (CSUEB) and University of California-Riverside (UCR), respectively. While at California State University, East Bay, he enrolled courses in Data Analytics, Data Mining, R, Machine Learning, SAS Programming, Statistics, Big Data, and Econometrics, to name a few. He also earned certifications from Big Data University (IBM) in Scala Programming for Data Science, and Inbound Certification at HubSpot Academy.
While attending graduate school, he served as Digital Marketing Specialist at Affymetrix. Before that he was an Associate Developer, Digital Marketing, and an Application Support Engineer at several marketing agencies and email service providers (ESP), such as SolutionSet, Boomerang.com Inc., and Acxiom.
In his spare time, he enjoys honing his skills whenever he gets a chance by developing miniaturized web products and competing in data science competitions. In his first ever Kaggle competition, Santander Customer Satisfaction, he was ranked 822/5,123, which is among the top seventeenth percentile, with only 59 submissions as a solo competitor.
